Welcome to the early Middle Ages - England in the year 664. In this hands-on workshop, we will learn and practice the pronunciation of Old English (also known as 'Anglo-Saxon'). In the process, we'll discuss how and why we know Old English sounded this way, despite the fact we don't have any recorded evidence from the time period. Participants will learn the authentic Old English Paternoster (or 'Our Father'), as well as an equally authentic, historically attested Old English magic spell. Stop by and experience how English sounded in the time of the Vikings!
