The 24th Studientag Englisches Mittelalter (SEM) takes place on 15 and 16 November 2024 at the English Seminar of Ruhr-University Bochum.

The SEM offers the next generation of scholars an exceptional opportunity to present and discuss ongoing research on the English Middle Ages. Contributions are welcomed from all levels of study, from undergraduate theses to postdoctoral research. This year’s SEM will once more take on the new format successfully introduced in 2023. Research projects can be presented in either of the following formats:

• regular presentations (45 minutes: 30-minute presentation + 15-minute discussion period)
or
• poster presentations with 5-minute lightning talks.

We invite suggestions for presentations on linguistic, literary, and general cultural studies topics (including archaeology, palaeography, art history and related disciplines). Read the full Call for Papers here.
